Artist Bio
I’ve always felt most like myself when I’m painting.
My aunt was a talented painter and textile designer so I loved studying her brushstrokes growing up. I was also fortunate to have parents who supported my interests…signing me up for art classes in the summer and gifting art supplies for birthdays. I used to dream of art school but didn’t have enough nerve to go for it. I put 20 years in to corporate work until I decided in my mid-40’s to take a risk and go after my passion as a career.
Defining my style has come from years of workshops and experimenting with different mediums. I now primarily paint in oils and release my work three times a year in collections. In the words of Edgar Payne though, “The study of art is a lifetime matter” for me. I find so much joy in learning techniques, finding the perfect composition, or laying on blocks of color.
While I’ve mostly kept my work to myself, I decided to start sharing more in 2020 and now paint as much as I can from my home studio. I love teaching in-person painting workshops for beginner and advanced students and teach twice/week at a local children’s art studio. I live in Raleigh, North Carolina with my husband, our three kids, and our two golden retrievers.
I’m always in search of the next pink sky or beautiful bloom to inspire my next painting.
